Illuminating Hope for Newborns Across Africa

Yellow Alert Foundation

Every year, countless newborns in Africa face life-threatening challenges due to neonatal jaundice, a condition that, while common, is easily treatable with timely intervention. Yet, in many riverine and coastal communities, limited access to reliable electricity and medical equipment turns this treatable condition into a leading cause of infant mortality and lifelong disabilities.;

Crib A’glow is committed to changing this narrative. Our mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of their location or economic status, has access to effective phototherapy treatment. By deploying solar-powered, locally manufactured phototherapy units, we bring life-saving care to the most underserved regions.

WHO WE ARE

Yellow Alert Foundation Overview

Yellow Alert Foundation is committed to reducing infant mortality and disability by expanding access to essential neonatal care in rural, coastal and riverine communities. Through our Neonatal Jaundice Sensitisation Program, we educate families, train community health workers and deploy solar-powered Crib A’glow phototherapy units to mission hospitals and faith-based health centers. By equipping frontline workers and partnering with aligned organizations, Yellow Alert ensures that every newborn, regardless of geography or income, has a fighting chance at life.

Every child deserves a healthy start to life. Our work is driven by compassion, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to bridging the healthcare gap in Africa.

Our Focus Areas

  • Reducing Infant Mortality in Underserved Communities: We prioritize the deployment of Crib A’glow units to riverine and coastal areas where healthcare infrastructure is limited, ensuring that newborns receive prompt and effective treatment.
  • Promoting Health Awareness Among Pregnant Women: Through community outreach programs, we educate expectant mothers about neonatal jaundice, its risks, and the importance of early detection and treatment.
  • Preventing Disabilities Through Timely Care: By facilitating immediate access to phototherapy treatment, we aim to prevent the long-term complications associated with untreated jaundice, such as hearing loss and cerebral palsy.
  • Supporting Maternal and Neonatal Health Education: We provide resources and training to empower mothers with the knowledge needed for effective newborn care, fostering healthier communities.
  • Empowering Healthcare Workers: We offer free Crib A’glow units and maintenance services to healthcare facilities, along with training for medical staff, ensuring sustainable and effective neonatal care.
